Lateral Subdermic Venous System
Spider Veins/Reticular Veins Before & After
This problem is arguably the most common cosmetic concern presenting to our clinic and most phlebology clinics around Australia. We refer to this collection of “Reticular” and “Telangiectatic” veins as the Lateral Subdermic Venous System. It is considered to be an embryological remnant. It usually only presents in female patients, particularly during pubertal years and following pregnancy. Treatment involves careful Sclerotherapy and in some cases where there are “perforators”, Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy.
